Texas Employer Training Funding: TWC ASCEND

Review the ASCEND employer-training framework, published reimbursement limits and practical preparation for a TWC funding discussion.

Connect a business need with training

Texas Workforce Commission announced ASCEND in March 2026 to support workforce training in targeted sectors, including information technology and artificial intelligence. The initiative supports eligible Texas employers training new hires or developing existing employees.

Published funding framework

TWC announced $5 million for ASCEND, including $1 million for shipbuilding. Approved projects may receive reimbursement up to $500,000 or $4,000 per trainee under the program’s rules. Applications are considered as complete submissions arrive, subject to available funding. Review the current TWC process before budgeting against an award.

Prepare an employer discussion

Describe the business, employee group, skill needs, proposed training scope, timeline and costs. Identify the operational tasks that training should support and the documentation TWC requests. Keep funding confirmation aligned with the proposed project.
