Fort Hood Transition Planning: TAP and CSP

Understand Army transition planning and Career Skills Program coordination, with practical questions for Fort Hood service members considering technical training.

Begin with TAP

The Army Transition Assistance Program helps service members prepare for civilian life and work. Start planning early with your installation’s TAP team; Army guidance calls for the process to begin no later than 365 days before transition. Discuss your timeline, interests and required transition activities.

How CSP fits

The Career Skills Program connects eligible transitioning Soldiers with opportunities such as apprenticeships, employment skills training and on-the-job training. Fort Hood identifies command approval and current program approval requirements. Coordinate the proposed training, dates and duty arrangements with the installation CSP team and your chain of command before making commitments.

Prepare a useful conversation

Bring your networking experience, intended transition timeline and technical career interests. Ask the installation team about its current process, required approvals and applicable training arrangements. LaneCert staff can discuss the training path and confirm current CSP participation status against the applicable Army and installation approval process.

For technical study, beginners can discuss networking foundations and CCNA preparation; experienced students can discuss CCNP Enterprise or advanced CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure preparation. Security is available through consultation.
